This workshop is ideal for UoA or department leads and Directors of impact who would like to increase their confidence when reviewing impact case studies or those new to reviewing impact case studies and providing REF impact support for the first time. It provides a detailed look at the formal requirements and restrictions of the impact case study template, what to look for when assessing reach and significance, best practice in impact evidence and the variation in how impact is realised, presented and evidenced across different disciplines.

What we cover

  • the requirements of the impact case study template and the mistakes that might render a case study ineligible or unclassified

  • how to assess reach and significance in draft impact case studies

  • how types of impact clusters across UoAs

  • how to give fair feedback on the current status of a case study and sensibly provide a potential ranking

What you'll gain

  • an improved understanding of reach and significance and how they are assessed

  • a good overview of the variety of impact evidence available and how it might be used to support different types of impact

  • the opportunity to dissect a case study from their UoA and receive feedback on their feedback

Ideal for

UoA or department leads or directors of impact, those new to reviewing impact case studies and research professionals providing REF impact support to colleagues for the first time.
